At our baptism we pass through the waters of the font, passing from death to new life in Christ Jesus. We are anointed a priest, a prophet and a king. Baptism is the first stage of Christian Initiation, continued at confirmation, and reaching its culmination in the celebration of the Eucharist.
At St. Patrick's, baptisms of infants and young children (up to age 6) are celebrated during the Sunday Mass. We do this to highlight the connection between baptism and Eucharist, so the parish community can welcome its newest member and support the family of the newly baptized.
To schedule a baptism, please contact Deanna Tighe. Attendance at baptismal preparation sessions is required. Parents are encouraged to contact the parish while still awaiting the birth of their child.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) provides an opportunity for those who want to be baptized, those who are baptized in another faith and want to become Catholic or those who are coming back to the Church to learn and grow in the Catholic faith. A team of parishioners accompany these "seekers". Adults who feel called to join the Catholic Church and want to join fully in the celebration of the Eucharist are a great blessing for our parish. The process can be several months or even a year or two, depending where you are on your faith journey.
If you have an interest in mentoring others or enjoy talking about what your faith means to you, please consider being on a team for one of these groups.
